Stanislav Libenský (1921-2002) and Jaroslava Brychtová (1924)

are world-renowned Czech artists who created some of the defining cast glass sculptures and architectural installations of the 20th century. During a life and artistic partnership, which lasted almost 50 years, they explored the optical and physical aspects of glass to develop a body of work concerning form, light and color. Thier sculptural legacy ranges from luminous geometry to spiritual figuration.

Since Professor Libenský's death, Mrs. Brychtová has continued to occasionally cast and exhibit the sculptures they created together. Reflections: Recent Castings of Iconic Works is a selection of sculptures representing some of the most significant aspects of their oeuvre. Ranging from one of their earliest collaborations, "Tall Head," first cast in 1957, to the beautiful geometric forms of the 1990’s series entitled "Spaces," the exhibition offers highlights of a rich collaborative career. Heller Gallery has been privileged to represent the Libenskýs for the past twenty-five years. It is with great pride that we present this exhibition.
