The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart.

Helen Keller

Peeling back the veneer of the familiar world, Christina Bothwell finds beauty in places where others do not often dare to look. She says she tries to capture the qualities of the unseen and express a sense of wonder in daily existence. How well she succeeds is a testimony to her talent as well as her connection to an inner consciousness that most people find very difficult to access. Bothwell shows us a land of strange beauty inhabited by odd beings and fantastic creatures. Even though they are often different from our traditional concept of ‘normal,’ they are imbued with a vulnerable and compelling humanity. Her creations demonstrate that although we are not all the same we are all linked by a common thread which we should not attempt to deny.

Heller Gallery is proud to represent such a unique talent.
