"Often I ask myself why glass is so seductive.
Why are we drawn to the depths and cosmic spaces it encompasses and how does the light penetrating it and defining its walls pull us into its narrative, onto the stage of light and shadow?
I know that I do not like dazzling, slick glass. But I love the milky transparency of the ordinary stones around us, which look as if the sky and earth meet in them. They seem to reveal something about the origins of this planet and, by inference, ourselves. I am certain it is these unspoken mysteries that so engage us with this fragile substance, which is made of those stones crushed into sand. It is up to each of us to discover our own part of the mystery.
All my work is about things that are constantly being born, live with me for a while and having shown their face, they return to wherever I conjured them up from. But their images live on in my heart and it is up to me to woo them back."
