For the past 30 years, Paul Stankard has been one of the most highly acclaimed artists in the international glass community. His intimate glass botanical studies are included in the permanent collections of more than 40 museums and he has been the subject of a documentary that has aired on almost 200 PBS television stations over the past decade. What has been less known about Mr. Stankard has been his very active role as a collector of contemporary studio glass.
The pieces in his collection range widely in style and technique and reflect the diversity of the Studio Glass Movement. For almost twenty years most of these works have been generously shared with the public at the Museum of American Glass in Millville NJ where they have been exhibited on long term loan.
Nearing retirement, Mr. Stankard has decided to down-scale his collection and in this exhibition and sale is offering a final public showing of the works he so enthusiastically assembled.
